One of the most popular hikes from Marrakech is, without doubt, the ascent of Mount Toubkal in 3 days. The Toubkal rises to some 4,168m in the High Atlas mountains. The Jbel Toubkal is the 2nd highest peak in North Africa.

Day 1: From Marrakech to the Toubkal Refuge

The driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in the morning. You set off in a 4×4 from Marrakech to reach the village of Imlil (about 1h of trip). In Imlil, you will find the mules and your guides for this 3-day Marrakech Toubkal hiking tour. Luggage is loaded on the back of the mules.

You can start hike in the Atlas. First, you will pass through the village of Aremd before reaching Sidi Chamarouch. Lunch is a picnic in the mountains. It is prepared by your guides. You then continue your way to the Toubkal refuge. You will spend the first night at the Toubkal refuge.

This Morocco Atlas trekking excursion tour will take you through small Berber villages with mud houses, stuck on the sides of the mountain. The mountain passes are passages between the Valleys and let you discover village after village… The greenness is present: walnut trees, crops on the terrace.

Day 2: Marrakech Toubkal 3-day tour – the ascent (4167 m)

The 2nd day of your Toubkal hike from Marrakech will take you to the top! Departure in the morning from the refuge after breakfast.

You take the direction of the summit of Toubkal. The path leads to a wide ridge which leads to the summit. Once at the top you can admire the breathtaking landscapes. The gaze covers the entire Marrakech plain, the Haouz plain and even the Jbel Siroua massif. You also have a clear view to the South, Ouarzazate and the Sahara.

After you start the descent to the refuge where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge – Imlil – return to Marrakech

You enjoy breakfast in the refuge. You then take the way back through Sidi Chemharouch (2250m). The trail takes you down to Imlil where you will have lunch with a Berber family.

In the early afternoon, you will return to Marrakech by 4×4.

In addition to panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains, the Marrakech Toubkal 3-day tour allows you to admire the many valleys hidden by the mountain. There we find the Valley of Azzaden, the Valley of Ourika, the Valley of Zat, the Valley of Imlil, of Imnan… You fall under the spell of the small villages nestled in the Valleys, of the cultures green planted in tiers, waterfalls, rivers, …

    Marrakech Toubkal excursion 2 days

    On the second day of the hike, it is possible to descend the Toubkal and arrive at the refuge for lunch.

    In the afternoon, you continue the walk to descend into the village of Imlil. Allow about 2 to 3 hours of walking more than the 1st day.

    In Imlil, your driver will be waiting for you with the 4x4 to bring you back to Marrakech. You will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.
