Trekking in the Sahara desert is an excursion that combines adventure, healing and well-being.

The Morocco camel trek is first and foremost a sporting activity that allows you to refocus on yourself, to meditate, to do a digital detox and to get back to basics. You enjoy the magnificent landscapes of the desert, the calm, the silence and the sun.

The Morocco desert trek combines hiking and camel rides.

In the evening, with the Sahrawi nomads, you set up the wild camp for the night. The camp, fixed at the foot of the dunes, is made up of a few tents. You enjoy the campfire while waiting for the dinner prepared by the nomads. Then, you listen to the songs of the Saharawis and their music under a starry sky.

Morocco camel trekking from M’hamid

If you want to do an excursion in the Moroccan desert during your stay in Morocco, then consider trekking in the Sahara.

You can trek from M’hamid during the period from January to mid-May.

The village of M’hamid is the last village before the desert in the Draa Valley. From Ouarzazate, it takes about 4h30 to reach it and from Marrakech about 8 hours.

If you want to trek in the Moroccan desert, the village of M’hamid El Ghizlane is the ideal starting point.

Merzouga camel trekking

If you go to Merzouga or Erg Chebbi during your stay in Morocco, know that it is also possible to do a camel trek there.

You will be delighted to discover the great dunes of Erg Chebbi during this experience. However, it should be noted that the trek from Merzouga is usually 2 or 3 days.

An experience with a night in a nomad camp in the desert is also possible. The departure for this excursion in the Sahara is in the afternoon. You leave with the caravan of camels in the dunes of Erg Chebbi for 2 to 3 hours of walking. After sunset, you settle down at the bivouac for the night.
